Unblocking MySpace

If you are trying to access MySpace or other similar sites at school or at work you may find they are blocked.

Almost all schools and offices place restrictions on the websites and services accessible on their networks. This is often done to protect computers from viruses and conserve bandwidth. It is also an attempt to control online behavior while at school or in the workplace.

Censorship online is a controversial subject and often it can lead to frustration and anger when the website or service requested is blocked. However, there is normally a good reason why the site or service has been blocked and you should remember that circumventing such censorship may land you in trouble since you are accessing something the owner of the network doesn’t want you to access.

The most common way of unblocking sites like MySpace at school or at work is to use a proxy server. A web based proxy server will allow you to access sites indirectly. You go to the proxy server (which isn’t banned) and enter the address of the website you want to access.

The website you ask for is then displayed through the proxy server and so you don’t actually connect directly to the website such as MySpace. It’s like having a go-between who can visit the banned website even though you can’t.

If you find your MySpace or other site is blocked, try using a Free Web Proxy server.

Pimp My Profile

As some of you might know, Pimp-My-Profile.biz has been out of the Google rankings. Why, you may ask.... I have no clue! Anyways, it has been about a week or so and can say that I am back...

I have no idea what my rankings are anymore, all I know is Pimp-My-Profile is back in the Google index!!

Anyways, I have posted another poll for you all to participate in :) Not really a Myspace poll (sorta kinda is I guess) but I am just curious of how old my users are :)

July 4th

Sorry I missed July 4th... Happy belated 4th :)

I have been so so busy lately with work that I have not had time to post on the blog even though I would like to post all the time. I have such a hectic life!! Sometimes I wish I could just sit and post non-stop...

My sites are taking a toll on me and I think I need to make some drastic changes to Pimp My Profile and change things on the front page. Our Myspace Layout Generator is very popular so I do not think I will be making changes to that.

Also, Default Layouts is giving me a headache and I know the site is fairly new and all but damn I wish it would behave, lol!! Anyways, if you all get the chance, please stop by Pimp My Profile and Default Layouts.

MySpace Is Everywhere!

Well, let me tell ya... MySpace is like I dunno but man oh man is it everywhere. I have a daughter, 14 and I must say, she is a true MySpace fanatic! She is crazy over MySpace but she knows her limits unlike some people out there who cannot even get up to go to the bathroom :)

Anyways, true feelings about MySpace... I didn't like it at first, thought it was this site that was bad for all kids and adults I guess but as my daughter sat down with me and showed me how careful she is and what steps people can take to protect themselves, it wasn't such a bad idea.

All this technology out here today, kids need something to keep them in the social spotlight.

For everyone out there looking for glitter fills to do their MySpace glitters with, here are some cute ones for ya....

MySpace performed cosmetic surgery across its browser and profile pages Wednesday.

What’s better: There are fewer sections on the homepage, with some other elements hidden in tabs, and more rounded corners. Members can more easily rearrange applications on their profiles, and site navigation has been improved.

What’s not: The massive ad space on the homepage is overpowering, even more than the takeovers were before. The notifications settings that can lead to email overload haven’t been fixed, so it’s still an all or nothing opt-in approach. Lastly, it’s still MySpace, and while it’s extraordinarily popular, there’s a vocal contingent of former members who have moved on. If you’re in that camp, this isn’t enough to make you come back.

Value for consumers: Consumers who are into MySpace will generally appreciate the tweaks, though the overpowering branding on the homepage could be a minor turnoff.

Impact for marketers: There’s more visibility on the homepage, though you could still do homepage takeovers before. The profile ad space hasn’t changed.

Family Day

Just thought I would post and tell you all about our family day today. We went bowling!! *sigh* Let me tell ya, no matter what we try to do as a family (mom, sister, her kids, my kids, me, cousin) there is always someone who has to start an argument...

Don't get me wrong, I love my family to death but man it would be so nice to be able to something with the whole family and everyone get along. Anyways, bowling was pretty fun, haven't done that for awhile so it was worth listening to the arguments :)

Hope everyone has had a nice day today... I haven't had a chance to work on Pimp My Profile today and I really wanted to make some changes. You know, spice it up a little and put some nice MySpace graphics or glitters on the home page so it doesn't look so tidy and boring.

Pimp My Profile (.biz)

Well, here we are again... I hope you all are enjoying the freebies I have been putting on here. Thanks to the designers :)

Today I thought maybe I could talk a bit about Pimp My Profile. The site is fairly new but has come along way in about 2 months. It is a hobby of mine and I love working on it. There will soon be a major change to it though, when I actually get a chance to do it!

I am glad that my husband got me so interested in doing websites and blogs and such. My kids are all into it also. Putting up Pimp My Profile has been a great joy and I hope it will be around for a very long time. I also hope the visitors keep coming to the Pimp My Profile blog and to Pimp My Profile Website. Word of mouth is worth a lot these days so do not forget to spread the word about Pimp My Profile.

MySpace Help

A MySpace profile…. Everyone wants the most unique, the best, the most colorful MySpace profile. A lot of users on MySpace do not know how to make the MySpace profile of their dreams. Why, you may ask, because they do not know how to code. In this article, you will learn how to do the most basic things to your MySpace profile to make it more your own.

Adding a Background Image or Background Colors

The background on a MySpace profile is probably the most important part of the page. If your background is too dark and you cannot see the font then people will leave and not read what you have to say. If the background is too dull or light then you may not draw people’s attention to your MySpace profile and they will leave.
Basic knowledge of HTML is needed to add background images or background colors to a MySpace profile. To add background images or background colors; log into MySpace, click on “Edit Profile” next to your profile picture on your home page. Next you will have to enter some code in the “About Me” section of your profile. If you are not sure of what code you need, there is a lot of MySpace Resource Sites on the internet that have the codes for people who are just learning how to do HTML.

Importing/Adding Images

I think just about everyone has a picture on their MySpace profile. People like to see who they are talking to… When you first sign up for a MySpace account, I am pretty sure you are asked to upload a picture. Photos must be less than 5MB and in the following formats: .jpg, .gif, .bmp, .tiff, and .png. Go to your home page of your MySpace profile then go to “Edit/Upload pics”. Next, click on the browse button to get the pics you want to upload and then click next. It’s that simple!

Adding Music

You will find a lot of MySpace profiles who have music added to their pages, especially bands who want to promote their music. It is really very easy to add music to a MySpace profile. If you have a MySpace account and want to add music to your profile, you can visit the following web address: MySpace Music. There you can find the music you want to add and click the “Add” button next to it to automatically add it to your MySpace profile. Remember though, you can only have 1 song at a time.
